The Adult AI Underwriting Checklist: The Documents That Get You Approved
You're excited.
You've finally launched your adult AI business.
You're in the mix of early innovators, or at least you aren't trailing too far behind.
The people you've explained the business to tell you it's a winner.
But the most important audience you need to explain it to is still behind the scenes: the underwriting team reviewing your payment processing application.
Can you explain the product when it matters most?
That means getting specific about what customers buy, where the content comes from, and how you keep the business under control. Your pitch may get people interested. Your documentation gives an underwriter something to evaluate.
No checklist guarantees approval. Requirements vary by provider, acquiring bank, market, and business model. But preparing a clear, complete application gives your adult AI merchant account review a stronger starting point.
Here is what to assemble.
1. Business Documents That Establish Who Is Behind the Platform
Start with the paperwork that identifies your business and the people responsible for it.
Prepare your formation or registration documents, tax identification information, ownership details, identification for relevant owners, and business bank account verification. Include applicable licenses or registrations where required. Your provider will specify which documents and formats it accepts.
Then check the details against one another. The legal entity on your application should match your supporting records. If your website operates under a different brand or trading name, explain that relationship.
A reviewer should not have to untangle why the application names one company while the bank account belongs to another.
Create a clearly labeled folder with current, legible copies. Submit sensitive records through the secure process your provider specifies. Basic paperwork deserves the same attention you gave your launch.
2. Product Documentation That Explains What Customers Buy
“Adult AI platform” is a category. It does not explain your business.
Prepare a short product overview that walks through the customer experience. Describe whether you offer AI companions, generated images, video, chat, or a combination. Explain whether customers buy subscriptions, generation credits, individual purchases, or access to creator content.
Be equally clear about what users can do. Can they upload photographs? Build characters? Share generated outputs publicly? Sell content to other users? Those features belong in the application.
Include your pricing page, screenshots of the purchase flow, and review access where requested. If paid features are central to the service, make sure the underwriter can see them.
For example, “Customers purchase monthly access to private AI chat, with separate credits for image generation” gives a reviewer a useful starting point. Follow it with the actual prices, renewal terms, and content controls.
Use the same plain language throughout the application and website. If the product includes adult content, describe it accurately from the start.
3. Content and Consent Records That Explain Your Safeguards
This is where an adult AI application needs particular care.
Prepare a written explanation of how content enters and moves through your platform. Distinguish fully synthetic outputs from material involving real people, uploaded photographs, licensed likenesses, or creator contributions.
Then assemble the policies and records relevant to those activities: prohibited content rules, applicable age and identity verification procedures, consent records, likeness permissions, moderation procedures, and reporting and removal processes.
Mastercard’s adult content standards address documented age and identity verification, consent, content review, and complaint handling. Those standards are an important reference point, but their application to your specific AI features should be confirmed with your acquiring partner. Mastercard’s adult content standards.
For underwriting preparation, explain how you address attempted generation of prohibited material, including sexual content involving minors and nonconsensual sexual depictions. If users can upload a real person's image, document the controls governing that feature and the permissions you require.
A fictional character has no identity document to supply. Explain how your synthetic content model works and ask which evidence the reviewer needs. Calling content “AI-generated” leaves those operational questions unanswered.
Finally, show how someone reports a problem, who reviews it, and how removal decisions are recorded. A policy becomes more useful when you can demonstrate the process behind it.
4. Customer Policies That Make Billing Easy to Understand
Your application should let a reviewer follow the entire purchase, from the offer to cancellation.
Prepare your terms of service, privacy policy, refund policy, cancellation instructions, support contact details, and recurring billing disclosures where applicable. Include screenshots showing how customers encounter those terms at checkout.
For subscriptions, clearly explain the charge amount and billing frequency. If you offer a trial, show when it converts and what the customer will pay. If you sell credits, explain what they purchase and any applicable expiration or refund conditions.
Check that the policies match the product. If your cancellation instructions say customers can cancel in their account, that option needs to be there and work.
Also document your proposed billing descriptor, the name customers see on their statement, for review with your provider. Discretion matters in adult businesses, but customers still need a way to recognize a legitimate purchase.
Make the billing experience understandable before the first support ticket arrives.
5. Processing and Financial Records That Support Your Numbers
If you already accept payments, prepare recent processing statements and available refund and chargeback reports. Ask your provider how much history it needs.
Add a straightforward summary of monthly processing volume, average transaction amount, customer markets, and currencies. Explain material changes or unusual periods rather than leaving the reviewer to guess.
If a previous processing relationship ended, answer questions about it accurately and provide any requested supporting information.
A new business will have less history. Say so. Prepare realistic projections, clearly labeled as estimates, and explain the assumptions behind them.
For example, show how your expected number of paying subscribers and subscription price translate into projected volume. Account separately for credit purchases or other revenue streams.
Have financial statements or additional bank records ready if requested. The objective is to give the reviewer a credible picture of the activity the account will support.
6. Risk Management Evidence That Shows the Work Gets Done
Written policies explain what should happen. Operational records help demonstrate what actually happens.
Prepare a concise overview of your fraud screening, customer complaint handling, chargeback prevention, and dispute response procedures. Identify who owns each process and how issues escalate.
For content controls, useful supporting material may include moderation logs, review records, and examples of how a report moves from submission to resolution. For payments, prepare examples of transaction and fulfillment records you can use to investigate a complaint.
Use redacted examples where appropriate, and confirm how sensitive evidence should be shared.
For a new platform, document launch readiness honestly. A tested moderation workflow or cancellation process can demonstrate preparation. Label test records clearly rather than presenting them as customer history.
If you rely on outside tools, explain what they do and who responds to their alerts. A vendor name alone does not tell an underwriter how your team handles a flagged transaction or prohibited upload.
7. Check the Application Against the Live Business
Before submitting, review the package alongside your website.
Confirm that business details match, pricing is consistent, policy links work, and the product description includes every material feature. Make sure requested review access works and that the reviewer can reach relevant content behind a login or paywall.
Pay particular attention to contradictions. An application that describes private text chat will raise questions if the site also promotes user-uploaded image generation. A refund policy that conflicts with checkout language creates another avoidable gap.
Organize the documents by purpose and use clear filenames. Include a short index if the package is substantial.
Ask your provider to confirm whether it can consider your specific adult AI model and whether anything is missing before treating the application as complete. A well-organized package supports the review, while eligibility and approval remain subject to the provider's requirements.
